YOUR BRAIN IS PERSONAL.
BrainDump is built as a private place to capture your own thoughts. This policy explains what information BrainDump processes, why it is needed, and the choices you have.
WHAT BRAINDUMP PROCESSES
Depending on how you use BrainDump, we may process:
- Account information such as your first name, email address, user ID, and authentication data.
- Your content, including dumps, titles, tags, projects, checklist items, decisions, reminders, and other text you save.
- Photos and file information you choose to attach to a dump.
- App preferences, feature settings, and limited usage information needed to apply Free or BrainDump GO limits.
- Push-notification information such as an Apple device token, time zone, app version, and notification-delivery records.
- Subscription information from Apple, such as the BrainDump GO product, entitlement status, transaction identifier, and expiration date. BrainDump does not receive your full payment-card information.
HOW WE USE IT
We use this information to operate the app, sync your content, let you search and organize what you saved, deliver features you request, restore your account, send notifications you enable, provide support, prevent abuse, and determine whether your account has Free or BrainDump GO access.
We do not sell your personal information. BrainDump does not use your dumps for third-party advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.
OPTIONAL SMART ANALYSIS
BrainDump uses OpenAI to power optional smart titles, readbacks, follow-up thinking, project matching, and whole-brain scans. BrainDump asks for your permission before sending your saved text to OpenAI for these features.
For a single readback, BrainDump may send the dump you selected and up to six related saved dumps. Features that look across your larger BrainDump, such as whole-brain scans or project matching, can send a larger set of saved dump text needed to perform that feature. Photos are not sent to OpenAI for BrainDump's current smart-analysis features.
BrainDump's OpenAI API requests are configured with API storage disabled where supported. OpenAI may still process or retain limited data as described by its service policies and legal obligations. You can turn Smart Analysis off in BrainDump Settings at any time. Turning it off stops future BrainDump AI transmissions but cannot undo processing that already occurred.
WHO HELPS RUN BRAINDUMP
BrainDump relies on service providers that process information on our behalf to deliver the app:
- Supabase for account authentication, database storage, and uploaded media storage.
- Vercel for application hosting and server-side API functions.
- OpenAI only when you enable and use Smart Analysis features.
- Apple for App Store distribution, BrainDump GO purchases, subscription status, and Apple Push Notification service.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer where legally permitted.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Your saved BrainDump content remains associated with your account until you delete the content or delete your account. Operational records may be retained for a limited period when needed for security, billing, legal, or service-integrity purposes. Apple may retain purchase records under Apple's own policies.
YOUR CONTROLS
- Edit or delete individual dumps inside BrainDump.
- Download a backup from Settings.
- Turn optional Smart Analysis off or back on from Settings.
- Change notification preferences in BrainDump and in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel BrainDump GO through your Apple subscription settings.
- Delete your BrainDump account from Settings. Account deletion removes the account and associated BrainDump content, including uploaded files, subject to limited records we must retain for legal or security reasons.
SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect BrainDump data. No online service can promise absolute security, so we do not claim that any system is completely risk-free.
CHILDREN
BrainDump is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to BrainDump, contact us so we can address it.
CHANGES
We may update this policy as BrainDump changes. When an update is material, we will post the revised policy and update the effective date.
